Opinions about "real" or "true" BDSM
Opinions and views on what is "real" BDSM, and who can define it.
Some people want to believe that their knowledge in an area covers the entire area or actually even defines the entire area.
This behavior is found in BDSM as well, where it is not uncommon to find people stating that they are performing the "real" or "true" BDSM, based on their experience or other "knowledge".
The belief that persons can define "real" or "true" BDSM is actually a good warning sign about them being narrow or shallow in their experience, regardless of how long it is.
This means that they are not aware of or respect the many facets that BDSM may have, since what is held as "real" and "true" by one person may not be so by another person.
In many cases the beliefs in what BDSM "is" or "should be" is based on what some sole "guru" originally has stated, then propagated by people preferring to learn and cite rather than think and formulate.
As long as a variant of an activity doesn't really damage other people or violate common laws, it cannot be objectively deemed superior or inferior compared to any other variant of it.
